In2Structures

An introduction to In2Structures dome venus and theatres

About Us

Previously known as Art of Light which started as a Rock n Roll lighting supplier in 1985, converting to staging and set construction in 1999, In2Structures was realised by a partnership with Gearhouse in 2004.

Preferring to continue specializing in theatre and music, the company transformed to design, manufacture, and rent custom structures and staging. Staging structures led to the early developments such as the Maxi and Flat truss domes and finally the Supadome and Maxilite venues.

It was only after the first Flat truss Dome purchase by Cape Town’s Zip Zap Circus in 2007 that the focus shifted to sales and rental. However, the rental market promotes the development of systems (Entrances, foyers, finishes & transportation) as well as the training of riggers and maintenance personnel.

In the case of new structure development, all engineering and analysis are verified by consulting engineers. Our modus operandi is to test build the arches of a new structure and apply a series of load tests. These results are compared with the finite analysis supplied by the engineer and once certified, we continue with full production. When a structure enters service, a comprehensive installation / loading / assembly / maintenance manual is prepared.

We retain the Supadome 36 m as our “flagship Venue” until the manufacture of the 50 / 60 m wide venue called the Megadome. Made to order, the Megadome would take about 6 months to complete including a full test build for viewing, and be ready for shipping. All structures are designed for easy transportation in containers and on stillages for trucking.

In2Structures like to consider all related services such as site layout of kitchens, ablutions, tensile surround structures, landscaping, and parking facilities in conjunction with the client’s architects or directly. We also advise or partner with their local suppliers regarding the installation of air conditioning, working/safety lights, emergency signage, and internal fire extinguishers.

In2Structures offers a comprehensive after-sales service with on-site training for build-up/breakdown with maintenance. Where a structure is ordered for touring purposes it will be delivered with transportation stillages and packaging to promote easy truck loading and minimize damage to parts.
